Main Responsibilities
This position requires love, patience and respect for children. The teacher will encourage the children to be independent and model appropriate manners and behaviours for them. The teacher will also teach and guide the children in activities designed to promote social, physical and intellectual growth following the Montessori method by performing the following duties:
Adhere to company safety policies and procedures. Reporting to the Head Teacher / School Principal.
Equipped with knowledge of Montessori terminology and method for Nursery classes.
Equipped with knowledge of Thematic Approached terminology and method for Kindergarten / Preschool classes.
Providing the children with a “prepared environment”. Keep the classroom clean and inviting.
Work together to provide the best possible environment within the School's philosophy.
Focus on delivering effective learning experiences through lesson plans.
Provide guidance during individual/group activities to support children's growth in social, emotional, and academic areas.
Be responsible for the welfare of the children in class life as appropriate.
Assist the children to move around, complete work cycles, choosing work & returning work when the child completes.
Serve snacks and lunch while helping children learn how to help themselves.
Encourage individual work time to promote independence, and group work to promote socialisation.
Supervise activities as directed by the Head Teacher / Principal. Teach small group lessons.
Share supervision of children in the school during break periods.
Uses personal expertise to enhance children’s learning experiences.
Be prepared with a progress report for Parent-Teacher Consultations/Conference.
Participate in all open houses and school programs, including open days and school events.
To advise as appropriate in the compilation of reports by the teacher. Secretarial duties (including filing and photocopying).
Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with children, parents and co-workers.
Requirements:
Candidates with at least a Diploma in Early Childhood Education and above will have an added advantage.
At least 2 years of relevant professional teaching experience, preferably in a childcare/kindergarten/preschool environment.
Willingness to acquire knowledge of inquiry-based learning is required.
Applicants must be fluent English speakers.
